Entrusted††††† Acts 1:1-11 HCSB††† March 06. 2016
The book of Acts is an informative book with a message we are Entrusted to share.†††††
1.††† Entrusted: For The Remembrance of the . . Promise.†† 1:1-5
A.†† Jesus Entrusted Luke to Write The Words He . . Promised to the Disciples and Us.†† 1:1-2
1 I wrote the first narrative, Theophilus, about all that Jesus began to do and teach
2 until the day He was taken up, after He had given orders through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom
He had chosen.
B.††† Jesus Entrusted Luke to Write The Words He . . Presented the Disciples and Us.†† 1:3-5
3 After He had suffered, He also presented Himself alive to them by many convincing proofs, appearing to
them during 40 days and speaking about the kingdom of God.
4 While He was together with them, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for the
Father's promise. "This," He said, "is what you heard from Me;
5 for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now."
Luke was a doctor and a good historian and he was Entrusted to write this message called the book of Acts.
It is a very exciting and informative book concerning the last days of Christ on this earth in His bodily form.† Luke had the privilege to be the writer for theses important days and the many activities of the early disciples.† We see the transformation of Simon Peter.† If there is ever a question about forgiveness Simon sure illustrates the forgiveness of God as Simon is the preacher used on the day of Pentecost.†† Christ told the disciples again about the power that would be given them as they would receive the Holy Spirit.† They wanted to know the details about His return but He told them there were to be His witnesses even to the ends of the world.† Quite a job that we have still not completed.
2.††† Entrusted: to Be . . Proclaimers of the Resurrection and† Witnesses To All The Earth.†† 1:6-8
A.†† Entrusted with the . . Witness of the Resurrection to Disciples and Us.†† 1:6-7
6 So when they had come together, they asked Him, "Lord, at this time are You restoring the kingdom to
7 He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or periods that the Father has set by His own authority.
B.††† Entrusted with the . . Witness of the Empowering of the Holy Spirit to Disciples and Us.†† 1:8
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
Basically Jesus said it is more important to be busy as evangelist than to be overly concerned about His second Coming.† Some donít know very much about His first coming and The Lord emphasized our sharing the message of salvation so everyone in all the world could know.†† We need to ask our self how many people hear from us.† We are entrusted with this wonderful message and need to be regularly sharing it every way we can.
3.††† Entrusted: With The . . Portrayal of Christ Return.††† 1:9-11
A.†† Entrusted with the . . Witness of the Resurrection by the Disciples and Us.†† 1:6-7
9 After He had said this, He was taken up as they were watching, and a cloud received Him out
of their sight.
B.††† Entrusted with the . . Witness of the Resurrection by the Disciples and Us.†† 1:6-7
10 While He was going, they were gazing into heaven, and suddenly two men in white clothes stood by them.
11 They said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up into heaven? This Jesus, who has
been taken from you into heaven, will come in the same way that you have seen Him going into heaven."††
Did you know Angels do not tell the message of salvation?† They might tell us what the Lord said or where
someone is for us to be a witness to; but it is always our responsibility.† These early disciples were so excited as the Lord ascended to heaven they stood there gazing up into heaven but the Lord told them to go into all the world.† We might also just rejoice in the fellowship we can enjoy in our church but the Lord doesnít want us to spend all of our time rejoicing but to go out to witness about the salvation Jesus gives.† We are Entrusted with
the message.†† Amen?† Amen!
