Acknowledge A Secure Salvation    1 Peter 1:1-12    March 4, 2007

Many years ago I heard a preacher say, AI am so secure in Jesus, I could swing over Hell on a rotten corn stalk and sing Amazing Grace How Sweet The Sound that saved a wretch like me.@

The text tells us our salvation is, A. . . imperishable, uncorrupted, and unfading,. . .@ This salvation is safe because it is not kept on earth but in heaven. No one comes to God unless they come through Jesus, and if they come through Jesus they want to exalt the Savior and the saved. It certainly is a privilege to Acknowledge A Secure Salvation.

1.   A Secure Salvation Through Grace That Is . . Plentiful. 1:1-3

A.Secure In Plentiful Grace Through The . . Scattering. 1:1

1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ: To the temporary residents of the Dispersion in the provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, chosen

B. Secure In Plentiful Grace Through The . . Spirit=s Direction. 1:2

2 according to the foreknowledge of God the Father and set apart by the Spirit for obedience and for the sprinkling with the blood of Jesus Christ. May grace and peace be multiplied to you.

C.Secure In Plentiful Grace Through The . . Second Birth. 1:3

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. According to His great mercy,

He has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from

the dead,

The grace of God is amazing and it is abundant. Since it is plentiful we may enjoy His grace even when scattered and disbursed like the early Christians. Even though separated from home they could sense God=s security, and so can we. The main reason for this security is the Spirit=s direction given to us through our experiencing the second birth. We may enjoy security because Christ lives and gives us a living hope.

2.   A Secure Salvation Through Grace That Is . . Protected. 1:4-5

A.Secure In Protected Grace Through An . . Inheritance. 1:4

4 and into an inheritance that is imperishable, uncorrupted, and unfading, kept in heaven

for you,

B. Secure In Protected Grace Through An . . Imparting. 1:5

5 who are being protected by God's power through faith for a salvation that is ready to be

revealed in the last time.

Our security enjoys protection through an imperishable, and incorruptible inheritance. This protected grace is imparted through God=s power. Our secure salvation is ready to be revealed in the last time. We don=t have to worry since God provides, and protects our salvation.

3.   A Secure Salvation Through Grace That Is . . Precious. 1:6-9

A.Secure In Precious Grace Through . . Trials. 1:6

6 You rejoice in this, though now for a short time you have had to be distressed by

various trials

B. Secure In Precious Grace Through . . Treasure. 1:7

7 so that the genuineness of your faith C more valuable than gold, which perishes though

refined by fire C may result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

C.Secure In Precious Grace Through . . Triumphing. 1:8-9

8 You love Him, though you have not seen Him. And though not seeing Him now, you

believe in Him and rejoice with inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 because you are receiving

the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

A genuine faith produces a salvation more precious than gold. If we face trials our faith demonstrates its preciousness. If we enjoy treasures of wealth; they cannot compare with the treasure of our precious salvation. Our triumph comes through the genuineness of our precious faith. The grace of God demonstrates it=s preciousness in all of life=s experiences.

4.   A Secure Salvation Through Grace That Is . . Prophesied. 1:10

A.Secure In Prophesied Grace Through . . Prediction. 1:10a

10 Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that would come . . .@

B. Secure In Prophesied Grace Through . . Probing. 1:10b

A. . . to you searched and carefully investigated.

Prophets predicted the grace that would come and produce our secure salvation. They probed the scriptures, and carefully investigated God=s word, and their revelations with the desire to be accurate in their prophecies about our secure salvation. Simon Peter tells in his second letter Aholy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.@ (2 Pe 1:21 KJV)

5.   A Secure Salvation Through Grace That Is . . Privileged. 1:11-12

A.Secure In Privileged Grace Through . . Testimony. 1:11

11 They inquired into what time or what circumstances the Spirit of Christ within them

was indicating when He testified in advance to the messianic sufferings and the glories that

would follow.

B. Secure In Privileged Grace Through . . Telling. 1:12a

12 It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you concerning

things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the gospel to you

by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven.

C.Secure In Privileged Grace Through . . Thirsting. 1:12b

A. . . Angels desire to look into these things.

Why do you and I know about the grace of God? We are privileged people who need to share. We know of this precious grace because of the testimony of Jesus. He testified of His Messianic sufferings even before He suffered. What a testimony! Then this precious grace came to us through the telling of witnesses sent by the Holy Spirit. It is interesting to note the angels had a thirsting for the knowledge we have but never received it. Certainly we ought to Acknowledge A Secure Salvation. Amen? Amen!
