The King Arrives†††† Matt. 1:18-25†††† Dec. 13, 2015
When you donít believe in an all powerful God you can have many problems in theology.† Some how
I learned about God as an all powerful God and all His miracles are within reason.† Basically He can do what He wants to and He does. †God did not ask any of us how he should solve the sin and salvation problem.† He did it in a way we would not have thought of and it is a magnificent way.† If you have wondered why Christians praise the Lord this is the answer.† Jesus paid it all, all to Him we owe, sin had left a crimson stain He washed it white as snow.† Amen?† Amen!†††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††
1.†† The King Arrives with A . . Supernatural Conception.†† 1:18-19
A.†† The King Arrives and He is . .Virgin Born.††† 1:18
18 The birth of Jesus Christ came about this way: After His mother Mary had been engaged to Joseph, it
was discovered before they came together that she was pregnant by the Holy Spirit.
B.††† The King Arrives and He Receives a . . Valiant Father.†† 1:19
19 So her husband Joseph, being a righteous man, and not wanting to disgrace her publicly, decided to divorce her secretly.
Some people really have a problem believing in the Virgin Birth but I think we have an all powerful
God and it is not difficult for Him to provide such a birth.† One time when I pastored in the St. Louis area we had a Korean couple join our church.† Once I ask him how he became a Christian and he told be he became a Christian through science as he learned animals having virgin births.† He reasoned if animals could do that it could certainly happen with God and His son.†† I knew what he referred to in Science but had not thought about it like he had.† Joseph knew the baby was not from him so he assumed it was some other human being this was
a righteous man and a great choice by Mary.† He became an excellent earthly father for Mary and Jesus.† In addition he was the kind of man that God could work with and accomplish much.
2.†† The King Arrives As The . . Messiah Promised in the Old Testament.†† 1:20-23
A.†† The King Arrives and He is . .The Promised Messiah.††† 1:20-21
20 But after he had considered these things, an angel of the Lord suddenly appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, don't be afraid to take Mary as your wife, because what has been conceived in her is by the Holy Spirit.
21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to name Him Jesus, because He will save His people from their
B.††† The King Arrives and He is . .The One Prophesied by Isaiah.††† 1:22-23
22 Now all this took place to fulfill what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet:
23 See, the virgin will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and they will name Him Immanuel,
which is translated "God is with us."
Because Joseph was a devout young man he believed the speech of the angel and no doubt enjoyed hearing what Mary had to tell him about the angel talking to her and the promise for her to carrier the Messiah until the time of His birth.† Not to be able to name youíre your wives baby would give some strain for Joseph but He knew the name suggested was a perfect name for Jesus because He will save the people from their sins.† Joseph had to have some pleasure in the fact his wife was chosen to be the mother of Jesus.† It was quite a choice to pick Mary as Jesus earthly Mother.
3.†† As The King Arrives He Receives . . Submissiveness From Joseph.††† 1:24-25
24 When Joseph got up from sleeping, he did as the Lord's angel had commanded him. He married her
25 but did not know her intimately until she gave birth to a son. And he named Him Jesus.
Joseph is an outstanding Husband for Mary.† She depended entirely of the Lord to make her pregnancy known to Joseph.† This is a great example when we receive an assignment from the Lord that is not easy to explain.† Joseph heard the reasoning from the Angel of the Lord and immediately reacted in the positive manner just as the Lord wanted him to respond.† He was a fine husband all through their travels and on their journey to Bethlehem.† I am sure Mary was proud of him.† They certainly looked forward to The Kings Arrival.† Amen?† Amen!†
