Is This Really Happening to Me?     Job 1:1-3, 8-11, 20-22; 2:7,9-10      June 02, 2013


Introduction                                

    Have you ever asked, “why me Lord or Is This Really Happening To Me?”  All of can learn from Job.

 

1.   Is This Really Happening to Me? . . Acknowledge Your Limits. 1:1-3

      A.  Acknowledge Your Limits have A . . Reverential Fear for God. 1:1-2

      1 There was a man in the country of Uz named Job. He was a man of perfect integrity, who feared

      God and turned away from evil. 2 He had seven sons and three daughters.

 

      B.  Acknowledge Your Limits Be . . Respectful of How God Made you Great 1:3

3 His estate included 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 yoke of oxen, 500 female donkeys, and a very large number of servants. Job was the greatest man among all the people of the east.


 

2.   Is This Really Happening to Me?. . Accolades from God? Job 1:8

      A.  Accolades from God . . Boasting Of His Servant Job. 1:8a

Then the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered My servant Job?

 

      B.  Accolades from God . . Backing the Integrity of Job. 1:8b

No one else on earth is like him, a man of perfect integrity, who fears God and turns away from evil."


 

3.   Is This Really Happening to Me?. . Anticipate Faith Challenges. Job 1:9-11

      A.  Anticipate Faith Challenges and the . . Complaint of Satan. 1:9-10

"9 Satan answered the LORD, "Does Job fear God for nothing? 10 Haven't You placed a hedge around him, his household, and everything he owns? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions are spread out in the land.

 

      B.  Anticipate Faith Challenges and the . . Contention of Satan. 1:11

11 But stretch out Your hand and strike everything he owns, and he will surely curse You to Your face."



 

4.   Is This Really Happening to Me?. . Answers of Faith by Job. 1:20-22; 2:7, 9-10

      A.  Answers of Faith by Job; An Answer of . . Praise. 1:20-22

20 Then Job stood up, tore his robe and shaved his head. He fell to the ground and worshiped,

      21 saying: Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will leave this life. The LORD

      gives, and the LORD takes away. Praise the name of the LORD.

      22 Throughout all this Job did not sin or blame God for anything.





 

 

      B.  Answers of Faith by Job; An Answer of . . Perception. 2:7, 9-10

2:7 So Satan left the LORD's presence and infected Job with incurable boils from the sole of his foot to the top of his head.

       9 His wife said to him, "Do you still retain your integrity? Curse God and die!"

       10 "You speak as a foolish woman speaks," he told her. "Should we accept only good from God and not

       adversity?" Throughout all this Job did not sin in what he said. (HCSB.)
